Walk With a Sister

Support the Legends and the Sisters on March 23 & 24 2024. We’re hosting a 2-day, 26.2-Mile walk benefiting Sisters Network Triangle NC.
A half-marathon walk is easy compared to the challenge of breast cancer. Aligning the Legends’ passion with the Sisters Network’s mission to increase awareness of the devastating impact breast cancer has in the African American communities in and around the Triangle area, together we can make a difference as we “Walk With A Sister.

Meet Sisters Network Triangle NC

Our mission to increase awareness of the devastating impact breast cancer has in the African American communities in and around the Triangle area. We walk with our sisters and caregivers as they navigate their complex and often confusing journey battling Breast Cancer.

Meet the Legends.

In 2020, we met some kindred spirits, The Legends, who despise breast cancer as much as we do. They are a group of friends who walk and raise funds for breast cancer in memory of their friend (Kim), who lost her battle to breast cancer in 2017.

Half-Marathon Walkers include:

Nancy Brim, Peter Carnell, Dean McCord, and Marcella McCord. Tucker Deaton walks too, in Seattle. She’s with us in spirit but not in location.

If you donate $50 or more, you may dedicate one mile to a loved one. We'll carry their names with us as we walk.

And if you choose to read more….An excerpt from Ulysses by Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Come, my friends.

'T is not too late to seek a newer world.

Push off, and sitting well in order smite

The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds

To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths

Of all the western stars, until I die.

It may be that the gulfs will wash us down;

It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,

And see the great Achilles, whom we knew.

Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'

We are not now that strength which in old days

Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,—

One equal temper of heroic hearts,

Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will

To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
